Sara Zingg was born in 1978 in Switzerland and graduated from the College of Education Kreuzlingen (Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education), Switzerland, in 1999. After a few years working as primary school teacher and head of school, she picked up studies in civil engineering at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She specialized in geotechnics and hydraulic engineering and graduated from MSc Civil Engineering at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2009. In 2016 she received her Ph.D. degree under Professor Anagnostou with a thesis on advance drainage measures in tunnelling. After eight years of experience in research, she entered industry and joined in 2017 Lombardi SA, where she currently works as Head of Underground Works Division on several tunnelling projects in Switzerland and abroad.

Sara Zingg is an official representative of the Swiss Tunnelling Society in the ITA-AITES working group 2 (research).
