PRINCIPLES, DESIGN AND APPLICATIONS OF SPRAYED CONCRETE
Principles, Design and Applications of Sprayed Concrete
On-line 3 days training session
On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd October, over three half-days, a training session on ‘The principles, design and applications of sprayed concrete’ will be co-organised with Mexican Association of tunnels and underground space engineers.
The objective of this training session is to present a global overview of the development and use of sprayed concrete in soil and rock tunnelling. The training will provide all the necessary information for efficient design, quality control and application of sprayed concrete, with references to interesting case studies. The course will highlight the latest improvements in spraying equipment and technology. Certification issues for nozzlemen will be also presented.

Lunchtime lecture series #39
This instalment of the Lunchtime lecture series will focus on 'Practical Aspects of Segmental Tunnel Lining Design' in collaboration with ITA-AITES.
After several decades of continuous progress, mechanized tunnelling has now become the main method applied in almost all types of geology, all sizes, and in increasingly shorter lengths. The predominant excavation support system for TBM tunnels consists of a one-pass precast concrete segmental liner which in addition to typical use in soft ground contexts is also increasingly applied in competent rock settings to better manage the geotechnical and hydrogeological risks. The first presentation of this lecture covers necessary details for analysis and design and provides in-depth information allowing tunnel engineers to start designing tunnel segmental linings. The required elements of concrete technology are presented in the second presentation and the last presentation describes the use of fiber for reinforcing segmental linings which has become the preferred solution for most cases.
The episode will feature three lectures and will finish with a Q&A with all speakers. It will begin at 13:00 CET.
- Basic Principles of Tunnel Segmental Liner Analysis and Design - Verya Nasri
- Technology challenges to meet sustainability goals of concrete used for tunnel segmental linings - Barzin Mobasher
- Use of Fiber for Tunnel Segment reinforcement - Benoit De Rivaz

Managing risks, sustainability and innovation in rock tunnelling
ITACET training course at the WTC 2025 in Stockholm!
The WTC 2025 and the ITACET Foundation have the pleasure of inviting you to the ITACET training course that has become a traditional part of the annual World Tunnel Congress. The 2025 WTC training course will focus on 'Managing risks, sustainability and innovation in rock tunnelling' and will take place on the Friday and Saturday before the WTC, on the 9thand 10th
May 2025. The prime goal is to attract senior/young professionals as well as university students, with an interesting and useful programme and world class speakers. The issues discussed will be of interest to professionals internationally.
The program will begin with a focus on advanced risk management in tunnel construction, exploring the latest strategies and tools to mitigate uncertainties and optimize design processes. It will then examine the importance of sustainability in underground projects, discussing innovative methods to ensure that tunnelling practices are environmentally responsible and resilient.
